Microfluidics for Yeast (and other Non-Adherent Cell) Microscopy |

Perfect CellFocus™ Design |
|
The CellFocus microfluidic design ensures that the yeast cells are maintained in a fixed focal plane during the course of the experiment (regardless of flow). This is achieved by using a microfabricated elastomeric ceiling to physically hold the cells. Notice the uniform focal plane of cells in the region of interest (4.0-5.0 micron ceiling), while cells on a standard slide show multiple focal planes. |

Microscale Flows |
|
The ONIX systems are designed to enable live cell flow experiments. Unlike currently used methods, microfluidics technology allows flow control on the same scale as your cells of interest. The result is better control of the cell environment leading to more precise experimental data. |

Nanoliter dead volume. The fluid switch is integrated into the microfluidic channels, with an effective dead volume of 10 nanoliters. This allows rapid fluid exchange at small flow rates. |
Uniform Flow. The flow channel is separated from the cell culture area by a proprietary microfluidic design. This allows rapid medium exchange without subjecting the cells to high shear stress. |
Laminar Flow Mechanics. The properties of the microfluidic channels ensures that fluid particles will be well behaved and predictable, leading to a more precise flow profile. |
