ONIX micro Flow Control System
(model #MV-121)
This minimal flow box enables manual flow control of the ONIX binary switching microfluidic plates (Y2, Y8, M2, M8). Best suited for users who do not require computer control and where precision flow control is not critical. Requires pressurized air and vacuum for operation.

System Details
Key Features:
  • Small footprint and optical transparency does not hinder microscopy
  • Precise flow control without bulky syringe pumps
  • One step sealing in less than 1 minute— no more tedious priming and tube connecting
  • Pneumatic interface eliminates air bubble introduction
  • No direct contact with liquid samples
  • Easy to clean between experiments

The CellASIC Manifold is used in conjunction with the microfluidic plate to allow flow control during experimentation. The manifold is set on top of the wells of the plate, and forms an air tight seal using a vacuum mechanism. Each column of the plate is then separately addressed with pneumatic pressure to drive liquids into the microfluidic channels. An optical window is cut over the imaging area. The exit wells are vented to atmosphere to prevent pressure buildup.

The control panel allows straightforward manual control of the binary switching microfluidic plates. User needs to supply a pressure and vacuum source. For improved flow control capabilities, see the ONIX Platform.

Regulators:

  • 0-10psi +/- 0.25 air pressure regulator
  • 0-30" Hg vacuum regulator (preset at 15" Hg)

Switches:

  • 3-way vented manual switches
  • "A" turns on flow to plate column A
  • "B" turns on flow to plate column B
  • "C" turns on flow to plate column C
  • "Vacuum Seal" applies vacuum to seal the manifold to the microfluidic plate

Inputs (supplied by user):

  • Compressed air line
    • 20-50 psi recommended (125 psi max)
    • 1/8" quick connect coupling on control panel (3/8" adaptor supplied with all orders)
  • Vacuum line
    • >25" Hg vacuum recommended
    • 1/8" quick connect coupling on control panel (3/8" adaptor supplied with all orders)
*Standard laboratory pressure/vacuum lines meet these criteria

Outputs:

  • 4 lines (1/16") to manifold
  • Connect via 1/16" stainless steel pins
